‘Tis the Season

These displays were inspired by the visual style of Anthropologie, Free People, and the overall aesthetic of the boutique. With full support from my manager and the owner, I was provided with all materials—including a hanging wooden Christmas tree, ornaments, ribbons, and woven baskets—to create cohesive, store-aligned presentations. Every item featured in the displays, from the ornaments and baskets to the clothing on the mannequins, was available for purchase, ensuring the visuals directly supported merchandising goals. Incorporating the heart of the boutique into each design allowed me to highlight a range of styles and create displays that were both inviting and reflective of the brand’s cozy, bohemian-inspired atmosphere.

The Process

The creation process was both exciting and detail-oriented, taking about five hours from start to finish. I began by cleaning and prepping the space, sweeping the floor and dusting the window sills to ensure a fresh foundation. Setting up the wooden tree required multiple attempts to secure it properly before decorating. I selected ornaments from both the provided assortment and in-store inventory, arranging them thoughtfully across the wooden panels—the varying string lengths made this a trial-and-error process. Afterward, I crafted large ribbon bows to complete the tree. For the second display, I incorporated provided letters, hanging them in an unconventional but readable way, and surrounded them with ornaments to emphasize the cozy, bohemian theme. Limited ceiling hooks added a challenge, but I adapted the layout to maintain balance and visual interest. Finally, I dressed mannequins throughout the store in their new Christmas collection, styling each look to reflect different customer preferences—pairing a bold red dress and charm necklace with the ornament tree and a bow-adorned cardigan, white top, and jeans for the cozier display. The process concluded with positive feedback from leadership and customers, affirming the effectiveness and visual impact of the finished displays.
